The New England PGA Section PGA Jr. League Championship was contested earlier this week at Stow Acres Country Club in Massachusetts.
The 300 junior participants competed on the stunning South Course of Stow Acres, which was built in 1921 and designed by Geoffrey S. Cornish.
On the opening day, a total of 39 All-Star teams participated in a 9-hole, two-person scramble. The three best two-some scores for each team determined an overall team score. The top four All-Star teams advanced to Tuesday’s Championship Rounds.
After the completion of Monday’s play, the All-Star teams advancing to Tuesday’s match play rounds were: Norwood (93), Atkinson (96), Central MA (100), and North Andover (108). Lucas Jenney and Zach Enners lead the Atkinson team on day one with a 4-under-par combined score.
“Our best hole was hole number 8. I had to drive to the left side past the bunker,” said Zach Enners. "Lucas had a great chip on and then I sunk the birdie putt.”
The Atkinson Team won the Section Championship after a second day of strong play.
