A Family Game: David Bennett Earns Top PGA of America Status as Daughter Anna Launches Her Career

For David Bennett, a PGA of America Golf Professional with more than two decades in the golf industry, this past summer brought a reality he never saw coming. For years, he never imagined he would have a daughter working in golf.

David and Anna lived out a rare parallel in their professional careers. As David spent time in their hometown of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., preparing to become a PGA Master Professional, the highest educational designation available within the Association, Anna was participating in the PGA of America’s summer internship program in Frisco, Texas. And it all came to fruition on the same day, with David earning the designation of PGA Master Professional on the final day of his daughter’s internship.

“Anna’s love for golf really blossomed over the last two years, so having her intern at the PGA of America this summer was the cherry on top,” said David, the 487th PGA Member to earn the designation. “It was no coincidence that I worked to finish my Master Professional presentation in Frisco as Anna wrapped up her internship; the timing made it even more special. The best part is, we got Anna back for the rest of the summer to celebrate as a family.”

Anna, a junior at the University of South Carolina, was one of 13 PGA of America summer interns. Working with the Member & Amateur Championships Department, she helped orchestrate the 2026 Junior PGA Championships at Fields Ranch at PGA Frisco, and assisted with the behind-the-scenes operations to ensure a successful championship at the Home of the PGA of America. 

Her experience was about more than just building a resume. This past summer was about paving her own path in an industry she had grown up watching from the sidelines. Getting immersed into the deep end of a championship  gave her a firsthand look at the scale and dedication required to execute a historic junior golf championship, marking an unforgettable internship with the PGA of America.

“It was so much fun getting a behind-the-scenes look at the PGA of America these past two months and seeing the membership my dad has been a part of,” said Anna. “It’s really rewarding to wrap up my internship just as he’s starting a new journey as a PGA Master Professional. Celebrating both milestones at the end of the summer makes it extra special for our family.”

While their daily tasks looked different, one at the educational peak of the industry, the other just discovering what a career in golf provides, their shared summer moment created a unique bond rooted in their love for this game, as a family.
