Meet the Team of 20 Competing at the 2022 PGA Championship - Part I

The 2022 PGA Championship is fast approaching and the ‘Team of 20’ PGA Professionals competing are getting ready to tee it up at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa. Each of them earned their spot at the PGA Professional Championship last month in Austin.

Among the 20, 8 are veterans of the PGA Championship while the 12 others will be making their debuts. Now, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Team of 20 so you can get to know them before they tee it up with the best come May 19th. Here are the first 10.

Club/Facility: Westchester Country Club, Rye, NY
PGA Championship Appearance: 5th
Metropolitan PGA Section

Beach emerged from a four-players-for-three-spots playoff at the 2022 PGA Professional Championship to secure his fifth PGA Championship appearance. He is the winner of the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, becoming the second left-hander to capture the national title. Beach is ambidextrous, and says that he can swing a golf club better right-handed most days. He has served at some of the country's finest venues: Congressional Country Club; Burning Tree; Desert Mountain, The Ridgewood Country Club and Baltusrol. Beach is a 2012 graduate of the University of Nebraska’s Professional Golf Management program.

Northern Texas PGA Section

Brandon is making his PGA Championship debut. He chased 51 spots up the leaderboard in the final round of the 2022 PGA Professional Championship to secure his place. He has won several section tournaments including the 2021 Northern Texas PGA Section TPX Communications Western Championship and the 2021 Northern Texas PGA Section EX-GO Eastern Championship. Brandon played college golf and earned All-American status at Division II Colorado Mesa University.

PGA Championship Appearance: 4th
Southern California PGA Section

Block will be making his first PGA Championship appearance since 2018. His son served as his caddie during the 2022 PGA Professional Championship. He was the champion of the 2014 PGA Professional Championship after a two-hole playoff. Block has played in three previous PGAs, including 2018 at Bellerive in his hometown of St. Louis. He also qualified for the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock and has been named Southern California PGA Section Player of the Year nine years in a row. Michael has imprinted on his TaylorMade golf balls the words, "WHY NOT?"

North Florida PGA Section

Matt Borchert is returning to the PGA Championship for the second time, his first since 2018. He has won several Section events including the 2020 North Florida PGA Section Professional Championship and the 2017 North Florida PGA Stableford Championship. Matt also played in the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont. He played professionally for 12 years on the PGA Tour (2009 primarily, made five cuts) and the Korn Ferry Tour. Before that, he played collegiately at the University of North Florida.

PGA Championship Appearance: 2nd
South Florida PGA Section

Tyler Collet will be playing in second career PGA Championship, after debuting in 2021 at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island. He also played in the PGA Tour’s 2021 Puerto Rico Open. He's a winner of several Section tournaments including the 2021 South Florida PGA Section Professional Championship and the South Florida PGA Section/SE Chapter 2020 GGS Jupiter Classic. Tyler graduated in 2017 from the PGA Golf Management program at Eastern Kentucky University, where he had a hand in the team winning the 2016 PGA Jones Cup at PGA Golf Club.

PGA Championship Appearance: 1st
Metropolitan PGA Section

Paul Dickinson will be making his PGA Championship debut. He is the winner of the 2017 Mohegan Sun Tournament of Champions. Paul played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2003. During his college golf career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he won four events.

Pacific Northwest PGA Section

Tim Feenstra is set to make first career start in the PGA Championship. He has won several Section tournaments including the 2011, '13, '15 Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship. Tim was also a semifinalist at the 2006 USGA U.S. Amateur Public Links and was named 2003 NCAA Division II GCAA National Freshman of the Year. Tim was inducted into the Western Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.

Pacific Northwest PGA Section

Austin Hurt is debuting in the PGA Championship. He has an impressive history in competitive golf, he was the champion of the 2009 Washington State Men's Amateur Championship and the 2019 Club Car WWC PGA Chapter Championship. Austin played college golf at Washington State University, where he set what was at the time the lowest freshman scoring average in school history (73.8).

PGA Championship Appearance: 1st
South Florida PGA Section

Colin Inglis is playing in his first PGA Championship. He has previously won the 2021 Pacific Northwest PGA Section Professional Championship, the 2021 Pacific Northwest Rosauers Open Invitational and the 2020 Washington Open. He was named the 2021 Northwest PGA Section Player of the Year. His sister, Caroline Inglis, plays on the LPGA Tour.

PGA Championship Appearance: 1st
Northern Texas PGA Section

Nic Ishee is debuting in the PGA Championship. He won both the 2019 and '21 Northern Texas PGA Section Assistant Professional Championship. Before that, he played collegiately at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (2010 First-Team National Junior College Athletic Association All-American) and William Carey University in Mississippi (Second-Team NAIA All-American; 2012 NAIA National Tournament Appearance).
