As we head into PGA HOPE National Golf & Wellness week, we recognize how much of an impact golf can make on the Veterans it serves. Launched in 2019, at Congressional Country Club, PGA HOPE National Golf & Wellness Week is the capstone of PGA HOPE. A total of 20 veterans, nominated by their PGA Sections, join 20 PGA Members and 20 PGA Section staff who receive training to launch their PGA HOPE chapters in their local communities.
“It’s kind of inspiring,” U.S. Marine Corp veteran Jennifer Lewis said, “to have someone who’s a professional at their craft look at me who’s just getting started and say ‘hey, you’re on the right track, you’re doing great.’”

Each veteran gets his or her own locker at Congressional Country Club, yet the work extends beyond the clubhouse and golf course. Throughout the week, multiple wellness classes and roundtable discussions are held, ranging from social media training to conversations on overall mental health, how the stress of military service can impact one's body, and how golf can help ease the tension.
“I don’t know if I ever in my life will feel the feeling that I felt on the course,” Navy Veteran Rhonda Liddell said, “but I sure will strive to make sure another veteran can feel this whole themselves.”
