There's a good chance Chantel McCabe's entry into golf is one in a million.
McCabe went to college to eventually become an athletic director to combine her love of athletics with higher education, but life had a different plan. Her broadcasting career started out covering hockey and politics until eventually she landed an opportunity with Golf Channel. Even with little knowledge of professional golf at the start, Chantel McCabe impressed during the interview process and hasn't turned back since. She became the youngest-ever Golf Channel personality to host Golf Central and today is one of the more familiar faces you'll see on set. For a sport that was once new and somewhat foreign to her, Chantel McCabe is evolving as a professional at Golf Channel and showing the world that she belongs.
Given Chantel McCabe did not grow up playing golf or anticipate ever covering the sport as a broadcaster, the learning curve has been fast and furious. Even so, she’s grown to appreciate her front row seat watching best-in-class athletes compete for a PGA TOUR victory. But even more rewarding for McCabe is playing witness to the rising stars on the Korn Ferry Tour scratch and claw their way to professional status.
In this episode of Fairway Tales, Chantel McCabe gives us the inside scoop on her favorite golf moments and opens up about being new in the industry. Brimming with a can-do attitude, McCabe has come into her own in front of the camera. She has proven that it isn’t all about what you know, it’s about bringing your truest self, rolling with the punches and figuring out the rest along the way.
